How to use it
Inputs
- 01
Product cost. What it costs you to buy or make one unit.
- 02
Shipping cost. The average cost per shipment. Turn on several couriers to give each one its own cost, delivery rate and return policy.
- 03
Other costs. Packaging, fees and the like. You can itemise them with custom costs.
- 04
Ad CPA. What you pay per order your ads generate. “Use recommended” sets it to 30% of your unit costs as a starting point.
- 05
Funnel. The confirmation rate (orders your team confirms) and the delivery rate (shipped orders that arrive and get paid).
- 06
Target margin. Pick a preset or enter your own. It only affects the recommended price.
Reading the results
- 01
Breakeven CPA. The most you can spend in ads per generated order and still break even. If your ad CPA is below it, you make money.
- 02
Profit margin. Net profit as a share of the price, after every cost including ads, for each delivered sale.
- 03
Recommended price. The price that reaches your target margin with your current costs and rates.
- 04
Other tabs. Simulation projects a volume of orders. Distribution shows where each cost goes and compares couriers.
The maths
Only a fraction of ad orders ends up delivered and paid: confirmation × delivery. Every delivered sale therefore carries the ad cost of all the orders it took to get it (CPA ÷ that fraction), plus shipping spread over the deliveries (shipping ÷ delivery rate) when your courier charges for returns, plus product and other costs. The breakeven CPA is what is left of the price after product, other costs and shipping, multiplied by that fraction.
Pro tip
Aim for a breakeven CPA at least 20% above your current ad CPA. That headroom absorbs swings in costs and conversion rates.
